The sign in action

Acrylic lespecial sign with LEDs

This was technically the first project that I collaborated on with my friend Danny, making it the first Wood’n Illuminations project, even if we didn’t know it at the time.

I was inspired by this video and basically used the same process. If you want to create something like this, definitely check out the video for details on the build process.

Unfortunately I didn’t get too many photos of the build process. Danny helped me cut the boards for the frame, and did the initial routing. I had to do a little additional routing to account for the LED strip’s height 😂 I sanded the acrylic, applied the vinyl (that Danny made on his vinyl cutter), then Val did the spray painting.

I used an SP511e controller flashed with WLED, and the strip ending up being 18 LEDs of 60/m ws2812b. I’m very happy with the results, and I love seeing this on my wall every night! (Note: this was strictly a personal project, I’m not trying to make any money off the band’s logo 🙂)
